13 october 2020(Amit): The pandemic situation is affecting the lives of many students, families and communities. School closures impact not only student’s teachers and families but have far- reaching economic and social consequences.
In response to school closures, UNESCO recommended the use of distance learning programmes and platforms that schools and teachers can use to reach learners remotely and limit the disruption of education. E- Learning has been heralded as a key tool to tide over students’ concerns during the pandemic fears of students may be alleviated by better learning outcomes and teaching methods. Curriculum and content developers are rising to the occasion by creating innovative learning techniques that will keep children academically occupied during the lockdown. Parents are own loading apps to teach their kids and teachers are sending video lessons on zoom calls reflects the commitment and creativity of teachers for student learning. Taking care of the mental and physical health of students in Lala jagat narain DAV school kabir nagar, jalandhar , they are motivated to do creativity project based education. They prepare things from old newspapers. Their craft work and colouring are priceless. They gift those paper bags to their relatives and friends . when the teacher teaches a topic , He/she gives interesting tasks to the students e.g. they are asked to sing any Bollywood song or compose poem on interesting characters of the chapter. This enhances their creative skills. Even if they have some doubts in online teaching, they clear their doubts with their teachers in doubt session. They are also shown videos of yoga, meditation, and other exercises. They are encouraged to do asana and make their own videos. They also prepared home-made masks from used clothes at home and distributed in their society and to the poor people. Teachers also send links related to covid -19 to create awareness among students and time to time guide them to maintain social distance in public places. Students are encouraged to write slogans and prepare posters for creating awareness of covid-19. But exemplary work of the students is put on school’s website. Many students took part in online competitions and won prizes. one of students of 8thstandard, kusum has been national bravery award for chasing a thief for stealing her mobile. She fought bravely with him and smashed her mobile phone from him. Though she was badly injured. She was honoured by school principal Mrs. Anita Nanda and deputy commissioner of Jalandhar. She got many certificates for appreciation for her courage and bravery. This has encouraged other girls to learn taekwondo these days. Girls of our school are also coming to the school to learn taekwondo from sports teachers. She sets an example for young generation.
