Jalandhar(1/08/2022): This story is narrating the complete story of step by step success of Lala Jagat Narayan DAV Model Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar, this school was started almost 28 years ago as a kindergarten with just 10 children and one class room , today has turned into a very beautiful school campus
The foundation stone of this school was laid on 12th May 1995, it was started by Shaheed Sardar Beant Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, Darbari Lal Ji, then President of DAV College Managing Committee and then Punjab Governor Shri B.K.N Chhibber Ji. This school worked to break the notion which used to say that only rich people can afford public school education to their children, this school has provided wonderfull education to students coming from every section of the society by charging an easy fee. It has been the rule of this school from the beginning that the school staff regularly checks the log book of every child.
Then came the year 1999. This year the school got recognition from CBSE, even by that time the school was in great need of financial help, which was fulfilled with great sincerity by the chairman of the school, Mr. Vijay Chopra.
In the year 2000, the school completed the construction of the second floor for the secondary block, and also cleared the construction work for the primary wing.
Then came the year 2003. This year the school also completed the work of the primary wing and the school applied for the upgradation of senior secondary, which was also approved by CBSE in the same year, and the school was upgraded as Senior Secondary School.
On May 10, 2004, the school celebrated its tenth birthday with great pomp.
From the year 2008 to the year 2019, the children of this school visited NASA many times and many children of this school have participated in many NASA workshops.
This school has been awarded with the Awards of Excellence for bringing new ideas in the field of education, this school has also won Best Academic Excellence Awards, Madam Anita Nanda, Principal of the school has been awarded by the Women Welfare Society, Punjab. She has also been recognized for its work for the betterment of girls and women, the school has also received the Certificate of International Collaboration School Associate Ship, the school has received the Green School Award from the Center for Science and Environment
Tammana Chauhan, who was a student of this school, has been the part of the United Nations Organization’s Event We Can remove Poverty, nowadays playback singer Deepanshu Pandit, who is spreading the magic of his voice in Bollywood, is the student of this school, one of the school’s Student Lakshmi has received national level award in painting, Rishi Dev, a famous face of the television world, has also been the student of this school, Deepak Sharma, another student of this school, has received the award from the former President of the country, Shri Pranab Mukherjee in the art competition.
In the year 2013-14, Shelly, a student of this school, secured 96.8% marks in AISSCE, bringing the school to the first position in the field of non-medical in the entire Jalandhar city.
In the year 2017-18, Karishma, a student of the school, had secured 96.6% marks in the class XII examination of commerce, this achievement had brought the school to the first position in the entire Jalandhar district.
In the year 2017 in the national level Taekwondo competitions of DAV, shakshi a student of this school got bronze and Garima got the silver medal.
Then in the 2018 DAV National Games Taekwondo competition, school girl Sakshi got a gold medal, after that Sakshi was selected for the SFI National Games.
Talking about the DAV National Games in the year 2017, Sarika, a student of the school, got the award for the best player in Lawn Tennis.
After this, Sakshi Parashar, a student of section B of class 10 of the school, got a gold medal in the taekwondo competitions in the DAV National Games in the Games of 2019-20.
Apart from this, Parminder, a student of the school, who was a student of section B of class 7 of the school, got a silver medal in Taekwondo events in the national level games of DAV.
Apart from these, another student of the school, Sadhika, who was a student of Section A of class 8, got a silver medal in lawn tennis competitions in the national level games of DAV.
After this a student of the school named Utkarsh who was a class 12 student in the school at that time got silver medal in Lawn Tennis matches of DAV national level games.
Another student of the school, Yuvrajdeep Singh, who was then a section B student of class 7 of the school, had won a gold medal in the national level sports competition held in Maharashtra, another student of the same class, Rajinder Kumar Won bronze medal in national level sports competition was completed in Maharashtra.
In the National Games held in Maharashtra, the school’s U-17 team got the runner up title.
Gurtej, a student of section-B of class 9 of the school, got a silver medal in the lawn tennis matches held at the DAV National Games.
A student of the school named Parminder who was studying in Section-B of class 7 of the school at that time brought laurels to the school by winning Silver Medal in Taekwondo events at DAV National Games.
Rajinder, another student studying in Section-B of class 7 of the school, had brought laurels to himself, his parents and the school by winning a silver medal in the same competitions of Taekwondo in the national level games of DAV.
School student named Himansh who used to be a section C student of class 10th of the school at that time surprised everyone by winning the gold medal in Taekwondo events at the national level games of DAV.
In the year 2019, Dhanak 2019 was organized at CT University Ludhiana, in which Prabhjot Singh, a class 12 commerce student of the school got the first position, another fellow student Prateek, a class 12 arts student of the school also secured the first position.
Now let’s talk about the painting competition, in the year 2019, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power and Government of India conducted a competition at the Tagore Theater in Chandigarh, in which Sachin of the school secured the second position in the junior group matches in which he got Rs.30,000/- Niyati stood third in the senior group for which she got a cash reward of Rs.20,000/-
In the year 2019, DBT, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India organized a poster making competition at Doaba College, Jalandhar, in which the team of Mukta and Sahil of the school won the first position.
In the civilized tech held on 18 October 2019, the school got the first position in Bhangra and second place in the group song competition.
In the Innocent Heart School Inter School Competition held on 5th November 2019, the school got the second position in the Group Dance Competition.
The school got first place in Folk Dance in the program held at State Public School, Shakot on 14th November 2019.
The school got the first position in Folk Dance in the Dimension Salt program organized at HMV on 6th November 2019.
School got 1st position in Saint Soldier Solo Dance on 22 Nov 2019.
On 16 November 2019, the school secured first position in the group dance competition at St. Soldier’s School, Friends Colony.
On the occasion of Republic Day, NSS officers of the school Manju Luther and Anju Sharma received the District Award from the former Punjab Jail Minister Mr. Sukhjinder Randhawa, then Jalandhar DC Mr. Varinder Sharma and then Jalandhar Police Commissioner Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
The proud moment for the school came when Anu Vandana Sharma of the school received the Best Functioning of NCC Activities Appreciation letter from Brigadier Aditya Madan, this school got the first position out of total 28 schools and 8 colleges.
The school got the first position in the drill competition in the match held at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, in which a total of 1500 cadets participated.
The cadets of the school got the first prize in the line area competition in the match held in Ropar.
The cadets of the school got the first prize in the drill competition held in Sant Baba Bhag Singh University.
In a competition held in Sant Baba Bhag Singh University itself, the girls cadets of the school got the first prize in the firing competition.
In the camp held in Ropar, the school got the first prize in many competitions like Group Dance, Painting, Skill, Solo Song.
Akashdeep and Rohan, two cadets of the school got the first position in the firing competition.
