The book release function for Prof Swadesh Kohli’s two recently published Hindi poetry
collections Analaj Ashroo and Saamuhik Mrityu was held at Punjab Press Club Jalandhar. Both
poetry anthologies have been published in memory of, and dedicated to, his late wife, Dr
Kanchan Kohli, who had been Principal at an College of Dhilwan.
The Chief Guest for this book release ceremony was Dr Parminder Kaur, Principal, Lyallpur
Khalsa College of Education, Jalandhar while Dr Anoop Vats, Principal DAV College Nakodar
graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
The event was largely attended by distinguished literary stalwarts of the region and noted
academicians of the city in addition to the beloved family members of the poet Prof Swadesh
Kohli.
Shiromani Sahityakar and renowned Hindi novelist Dr Ajay Sharma, Shiromani Sahityakar and
acclaimed Hindi poet and critic Dr Tarsem Gujral, celebrated bilingual poet, translator, editor
and critic Prof Seema Jain and erudite scholar and critic Dr Vinod Sharma from LPU presented
their critique of the two poetry collections and threw light on the socio-political, familial and
human dimensions of the poet’s concerns in these poems besides the poet’s felicity of
language, maturity of experience and vision, and stylistic dexterity.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kohli paid an intensely emotional tribute to his deceased wife
Kanchan Kohli as the inspiration behind his creative expressions. He also shared how he had
no plans to have these poems written over a long span of time published and these collections
saw the light of day only to fulfill the keen desire of Dr Kanchan Kohli’s heart. Dr Parminder in
her speech dwelt on her strong emotional bond with the Kohlis and extended her best wishes to
Prof Kohli. Dr Anoop Vats also complimented Prof Kohli for his creative accomplishment.
The event was effectively compered by Prof Neetu Vaid Sharma and attended by Prof Neeraj
Jain, Prof Satinder Kaur,Dr Neelam Julka, Prof Jeevan Ahuja, Prof Kamlesh Ahuja, Prof
Ghanshyam Bhatt, Dr Avinash Bawa, Prof Neetu Sharma, Dr G S Brar, Dr Harjeet Kaur, Dr
